Crimes Against Persons

Homicide Unit
This unit is supervised by a Lieutenant who reports directly to the Crimes Against Person Division Commander. This unit is responsible for the investigation of the following:
  • Deaths: Homicides, suicides, natural, and accidental (except traffic fatalities).
  • Assault/Battery: including those against children shot or stabbed.
  • Sex offenses involving victims over the age of 17 years.
  • Kidnapping (except parental "snatching")
  • Missing Persons
  • Extortion
  • Harassing, obscene, or threatening telephone calls
  • Product Tampering
  • Terroristic Threats

Robbery Unit
This unit is supervised by a Lieutenant who reports directly to the Crimes Against Person Division Commander. This unit is responsible for the investigation of all robberies.

High Tech Crime Squad
This unit is located at the Headquarters Building on North Marietta Parkway. It is supervised by a Lieutenant who reports directly to the Crimes Against Person Division Commander. This unit is responsible for the investigation of the following:
  • Harassing Communication and Cyber Stalking
  • Computer Fraud (defraud others of money via internet)
  • Threats & Hate Crimes via Computer
  • Computer Theft & Computer Trespass
  • Computer Invasion of Privacy and Computer Password Disclosure
  • All other computer based crimes or computer evidence.

  • The goal of the Cobb County Police High Tech Crime Squad is to investigate criminal activity which was perpetrated through the use of, or assisted with the use of computers or advanced information technology. Additionally, we provide forensic support to all of the investigative units within our department as well as other departments upon request.


    Crimes Against Children Unit
    This unit is supervised by a Lieutenant who reports directly to the Crimes Against Person Division Commander. This unit is responsible for the investigation of the following incidents:
  • Investigation of child abuse and neglect of persons under the age of 18.
  • Sexual offenses where either the perpetrator or victim is a juvenile.
  • Domestic Snatchings (parental kidnapping)
  • Juvenile Missing Persons (if foul play evident, Homicide Unit will investigate).
  • All aggravated assaults and/or aggravated battery involving persons under 17.
  • Robbery involving intimidation between juveniles.
  • Offenses on school property which involve illegal drugs.
  • Domestic Violence/Stalking Unit
    This unit is supervised by the Crimes Against Children Unit Lieutenant. This unit is responsible for the investigation of the following incidents:

    • Domestic Violence
    • Stalking
