The Detective Bureau consists of the Crimes Against Persons, Crimes Against Property, Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Organized Crime Unit, and Special Projects. The activities of this bureau are managed by the Deputy Chief.

Crimes Against Persons
is under the command of a Major and reports to the Deputy Chief. These units are responsible for the investigation of all crimes against individuals. Four separate units make up this division:
  • Homicide Unit
  • Robbery Unit
  • Domestic Violence/Stalking Unit
  • Crimes Against Children Unit
  • High Tech Crime Squad

    Crimes Against Property A Criminal Investigation Unit is located at each of the five precincts. Each unit is supervised by a Lieutenant who reports directly to the Precinct Commander. These units are responsible for the investigation of all crimes against property. Within Crimes Against Property are two separate units:
    • Auto Theft Unit (Assigned to Precinct 2)
    • Pawn Enforcement Unit (Assigned to Precinct 5)

    Marietta/Cobb/Smyrna Organized Crime Unit is under the command of a Major and reports to the Chief's Office. This unit is responsible for the investigation of all white collar crimes and narcotics offenses. Within this unit are two separate units:
  • Intelligence Unit
  • Narcotics Unit


  • Administrative Services Division
    is under the command of a Major and reports to the Deputy Chief. The Administrative Services Division Commander is responsible for budget and grants administration, planning and research, policy development and revision, and certification management for the Department, as well as any special projects initiated at the request of the Chief or Deputy Chiefs of Police. The Administrative Services Division Commander is also responsible for the following four units:
  • Central Records Unit
  • Property and Evidence Unit
  • Crime Analysis Unit
  • Community Education Office (Crime Prevention)
