Property and Evidence Unit
This unit is located in the basement of the 911 Center on North Marietta Parkway. The supervisor of this unit is a civilian who reports directly to the Lieutenant of the Central Records Unit. The Property and Evidence Unit is responsible for the storage and return of property recovered by the Police Department. This unit is responsible for the handling, storage, processing, and disposition of all evidence.
This unit also operates the Automated Fingerprint Identification System (AFIS) for the Police Department.
Crime Analysis Unit
This unit is located at the Headquarters Building on North Marietta Parkway. This unit reports directly to the Lieutenant
of the Central Records Unit. Their mission will be to provide current Crime and Traffic Analysis for the Department. They
will generate periodic status reports as well as reports on request.
Permits Unit
The Permits Unit is located in the Headquarters Complex on North Marietta Parkway. This unit is supervised by a Sergeant and reports directly to the Lieutenant in the Adjutants Office. The Permits Unit is responsible for licensing and enforcement in any activity regulated by Cobb County Ordinances, e.g. alcohol beverage sales, wrecker services, taxi services, etc.
Community Education Office (Crime Prevention)
The Community Education Office is located in the Headquarters Complex on North Marietta Parkway. Personnel of the Community Education Office are sworn officers who report directly to the Lieutenant in the Adjutants Office. The Community Education Office conducts crime prevention seminars and training, and coordinates similar activities conducted by the precincts and special unit.
